10 October 2024: Dussehra Celebrations in the School
P.U.L.E.R. celebrated the vibrant festival of Dussehra with a special activity where children engaged in coloring Dussehra-themed worksheets. This creative session not only allowed the children to express their artistic talents but also gave them the opportunity to reflect on the deeper meaning of the festival.
Dussehra, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil, reminds us that no matter how challenging the circumstances may be, goodness always prevails. It teaches us the importance of courage, righteousness, and the ultimate victory of truth and virtue. Through this celebration, P.U.L.E.R. reinforced these timeless values, helping the children understand that, like the festival’s message, they too can overcome obstacles and emerge victorious by embracing kindness, integrity, and perseverance.
03 October 2024: Movie Screening of ‘Taare Zameen Par’
P.U.L.E.R. organized a heartwarming screening of Taare Zameen Par, a film that never fails to stir emotions and leave a lasting impact. This powerful movie highlights the challenges faced by children, particularly those who feel misunderstood or overlooked, and it beautifully conveys the importance of recognizing and nurturing each child’s unique potential.
The screening was more than just a cinematic experience—it served as a reflection on the need for compassion, patience, and understanding in the lives of young people. The children were reminded that they are not alone in their struggles and that, with the right support, they can overcome any obstacles. The film’s message of hope and the bond between a teacher and student inspired both the children and the audience, further aligning with P.U.L.E.R.’s mission to support the emotional and educational growth of young minds.

21 August 2024: Webinar on “Mental Health and Access to Justice for All”
P.U.L.E.R., in collaboration with the Legal Aid Committee (LAC), organized an insightful webinar on “Mental Health and Access to Justice for All – A Cross-Cultural Perspective” on August 23rd, 2024, under the esteemed guidance of our Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) S. Surya Prakash, and the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Bir Pal Singh.
We were honored to welcome Ms. Molly Cueto, a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP, USA) with over 16 years of experience in trauma-informed care, as our guest speaker. Ms. Cueto has worked extensively on suicide prevention and providing support for first responders and veterans, with a focus on enhancing the accessibility and effectiveness of therapy within communities. Her insights into mental health from a cross-cultural perspective aligned perfectly with the goals of the webinar.
Moderated by Ms. Tanishka Israni, a trauma-informed psychotherapist, the session focused on the mental health concerns of children, adolescents, and young adults, offering invaluable guidance for educators, parents, caregivers, and young adults. Ms. Israni’s emphasis on inclusivity and intersectionality in mental health care further enriched the discussion.
This webinar aimed to foster a more inclusive understanding of mental health, encouraging participants to engage with these vital topics and promoting greater awareness of the importance of mental well-being.
15 August 2024: Independence Day Celebrations
This Independence Day, P.U.L.E.R. celebrated the true essence of freedom through the eyes of children. For them, independence isn’t just about the history of a nation’s liberation—it’s about the small, everyday moments where they can explore, learn, and express themselves freely.
Independence to a child means the freedom to dream big, ask questions, and make choices, all while feeling secure and supported. It’s the freedom to play, to imagine, and to discover the world on their own terms. P.U.L.E.R.’s Independence Day celebrations embraced this idea, encouraging children to understand the value of freedom, not just as a historical achievement, but as a gift that empowers them to shape their own futures with confidence and creativity.
07 September 2020: Webinar on ‘Challenges of online learning amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the education of underprivileged children’
The speaker was Ms. Sonal S Raja who is a trained clinical psychologist and has extensive experience in the area of child well-being, having worked in this field for the last 20 years. Through her work, she has helped countless children, adolescents, and adults with their educational and emotional issues such as anxiety and depression.
The session started off with a brief introduction of the stages of physiological and psychological development of children, to give the teachers a better understanding of the capabilities and responsiveness of the respective age groups they teach. Ms. Raja highlighted the importance of using a child’s environment to ground them and give them an idea of practical aspects of what they are being taught, especially given the present circumstances, when virtual classes make it harder to grasp their attention with abstract concepts.
She also pointed out the importance of understanding the socio-economic background of a child and bringing the same out in teaching style, for instance through leaning by exemplification. Upon being asked how to make sure that a child does not lose their attention span in online classes, she emphasized the importance of grounding activities, such as pointing out objects in their surroundings and listening to ambient noises and being aware of them.
Distribution of Masks and Sanitizers
With the number of Covid cases increasing daily, the need for essential supplies i.e. masks and sanitizers has also increased.
We recently heard from the principal of the government school at Mendori who informed us of an acute shortage of essential supplies in Mendori and Mendora villages near our campus.
P.U.L.E.R. undertook an initiative to collect funds from our college student body and alumni to provide for the same. We are extremely pleased to announce that 700 masks, as well as a sanitizer, have been distributed till now. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the entire NLIU community who donated funds so that we could help the people in our little way.
We were very overwhelmed at your display of support and intend to carry this spirit in the future to do our small part in helping those in need.
Distribution of Notebooks
We decided to utilise a part of the funds for distributing notebooks to the children at Mendori Government School. We are very thankful to the principal who was kind enough to help us donate the books to each student’s house.
The notebooks were sourced from Atul Agencies, Bhopal which sold the notebooks to us at low prices, so as to contribute to the cause.
A huge shoutout to all the donors from the NLIU student body and alumni for making this possible!
